How customers register for Carpay
Carpay offers two ways for customers to register and create an online payment account.
Option 1: Standard Registration
Most customers can register using:
First name
Last name
Last 4 digits of their Social Security number (SSN)
This option allows customers to self-register without dealer assistance when SSN information is available.
Option 2: Registration Code (No SSN Required)
If a customer is unable to register using the last 4 digits of their SSN, Carpay provides a registration code option.
A registration code allows the customer to complete registration without entering SSN information and can be used anytime standard registration isn’t available or doesn’t work.
What is a registration code?
A registration code is a one-time code sent by Carpay that allows a customer to securely create their online account.
Once registered, customers can:
Make payments online or in the Carpay mobile app
View payment history and account details
Enroll in autopay
Receive payment reminders and notifications
When to Send a Registration Code
Send a registration code when:
A customer cannot complete standard registration
SSN registration is not available or does not work
A customer requests help setting up their account
You want to proactively assist a customer with registration
Registration codes can be sent by text message or email.
Sending a registration code from the dealer site
Log in to your Carpay dealer site from a web browser.
Search for the customer by name or account number.
Open the customer’s account profile.
Select Send Registration Code.
Choose Text Message or Email.
Confirm the customer’s contact information and send.
The customer will receive a one-time registration code using the selected delivery method.
What customers do with the registration code
After receiving the code, the customer should:
Visit Carpay via the web browser or via the Carpay mobile app.
Select I have a registration code.
Enter the registration code when prompted.
Follow the on-screen steps to create their login.
Once registration is complete, the customer will have full access to their Carpay account.
Tips & Common Questions
If a customer says they can’t register using SSN, send a registration code right away.
Always confirm the customer’s phone number or email address before sending the code.
If a customer doesn’t receive the code, resend it or try the alternate delivery method.
