Payment Requests

How to use Payment Requests to send customers secure payment links/invoices by text or email.

What are Payment Requests?

Payment Requests allow you to send a customer a secure, one-time payment link via an invoice by text message or email.

The customer opens the link and completes their payment online—no card information is shared verbally or stored by your staff.

Payment Requests are useful when:

  • You want to invoice a customer and add multiple line items

  • A customer is not in the office

  • You want to avoid taking card information over the phone

  • A customer prefers to pay from their own device

  • You need a quick, secure way to collect payment

How Payment Requests work

  1. You send a payment request to the customer from the Carpay dealer site.

  2. The customer receives a secure link by text or email.

  3. The customer opens the link and enters their payment information.

  4. The payment is processed through Carpay.

This method helps reduce errors, disputes, and PCI risk.

Sending a Payment Request

To send a payment request:

  1. Log in to the Carpay dealer site from a web browser.

  2. Select Payment Requests.

  3. Enter line item(s) for each invoiceable item, adding the amounts owed for each item as well.

  4. The invoice will total on its own.

  5. Choose how to send the request (Text Message or Email).

  6. Send the request.

The customer can complete the payment directly from the link they receive.

When to use Payment Requests

Payment Requests are ideal for:

  • One-time payments

  • Phone conversations where the customer prefers not to read card details aloud

  • Customers who want to pay later the same day

  • Remote or after-hours payments

They are not intended for recurring payments—Autopay should be used for that purpose.

Security and best practices

  • Payment Requests use secure, PCI-compliant payment pages

  • Never ask customers to send card details by text or email

  • Let customers know the link is secure and comes from Carpay

Using Payment Requests helps protect both your dealership and your customers.
