What are Cash Payments (Paysafe)?

Cash Payments (powered by Paysafe) is an optional Carpay feature that allows your customers to pay cash for their loan at participating retail locations near them.

Can the customer dispute a cash payment?
No. There are no chargebacks or dispute risks for cash payments.

Is there a limit on the total cash payments my dealership can take?
No. There is no limit on the total cash your dealership can accept. However, customers may be limited on how much they can pay per day at participating retail stores.

How long until I receive funding for a cash payment?
Cash payment funds are deposited to your dealership’s bank account in approximately two business days (excluding bank holidays).

Is there a fee for dealers to accept cash payments?
No — there is no cost to your dealership to enable or accept cash payments. The customer pays a $4 service fee at the time of payment.

Can customers generate a barcode in the Carpay app and online?
Yes. Customers can generate a cash payment barcode from either the mobile app or the web portal.

Does a customer have to be a registered payer to pay cash?
No. A customer does not need to be a registered payer in Carpay to make a cash payment. However, registering a payer account can make future payments easier.

When does the cash payment barcode expire?
Barcodes expire 72 hours after they’re generated. If a customer waits longer than 72 hours, they’ll need to generate a new barcode.

How much can a customer pay with one barcode?
Customers can make payments between $10 and $999 per barcode.

Will the customer’s account update when the cash payment posts?
Yes. Once the cash payment is processed, the customer’s account in Carpay will show the payment as if it were made by credit or debit card.
