This article explains how dealers using the AutoManager DMS should handle paid-off, repossessed, and trade-in accounts in Carpay to prevent incorrect payments and unnecessary customer reminders.
When an account status changes in AutoManager, action is required in Carpay to keep both systems aligned.
Paid-off accounts
Once a customer’s account has been paid in full in AutoManager, the account must be blocked in Carpay.
Why blocking is required
Blocking a paid-off account in Carpay:
Stops future payment reminders from being sent
Prevents the customer from submitting additional payments
Avoids confusion on closed accounts
Keeps Carpay records clean and accurate
Blocking should be done as soon as payoff is confirmed in AutoManager.
Accounts in repossession status
If a customer’s account moves into repossession (repo) status in AutoManager, the account must also be blocked in Carpay.
Why repo accounts must be blocked
Blocking repo accounts ensures:
Payment reminders are no longer sent
Customers cannot make payments through the Carpay portal
Payments are handled manually according to your internal repo process
This is especially important to avoid accepting payments that should not be processed during repossession.
Trade-in accounts
When a customer trades in a vehicle and finances a new one, the account tied to the traded-in vehicle must be blocked in Carpay.
Why trade-in accounts must be blocked
Blocking the trade-in account:
Prevents payment reminders for a vehicle the customer no longer owns
Avoids duplicate or misapplied payments
Helps the customer focus on their new financing without confusion
Each vehicle/account is managed separately in Carpay, so blocking the old account is required.
Summary of when to block accounts
You should block a customer account in Carpay when it is:
✅ Paid off
🚫 In repossession status
🔄 Traded in
Blocking ensures Carpay behavior matches AutoManager status.
Important notes
Blocking an account does not delete payment history
Blocked accounts remain visible for record-keeping
Blocking only affects future payments and reminders
This process applies only to dealers using AutoManager as their DMS
